Overview

The Customer-Centric Initiative (CCI) for the land transport sector, covering public transport, chartered buses, school buses and taxis, was launched by Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Raymond Lim, on 18 November 2008 to raise service standards in this sector.

The entire public tansport sector comprising SBS Transit Ltd, SMRT Corporation Ltd and Transit Link Pte Ltd, private bus operators ComforDelgro Bus Pte Ltd and Woodlands Transport Service Pte Ltd have committed to embark on the CCI to improve service within their organisations. They will implement service initiatives ranging from developing service promise, service blueprints, service standards, leveraging on technology such as having an interactive voice recognition system to reduce callers’ waiting time, developing customer service training programmes based on the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework, developing a reward and recognition system to recognise staff for good service to conducting service audits. Together with the seven taxi operators onboard the CCI since February 2009, the twelve transport companies make up some 59,000 or 80 percent of transport workers in Singapore.
