Development Plan for the Singapore F&B Industry
Vision
A sustainable and growing F&B industry known for its vibrancy, sophistication, uniqueness, quality offerings, management and service capabilities in the region.
Key initiatives under the proposal
RAS’s proposal focuses on three key strategies to further strengthen the industry, namely :
Build a skilled and professional workforce
Develop F&B training programmes : RAS intends to develop new courses/programmes to meet the needs of the industry, especially in the middle management level where there is currently a gap. These programmes will be aligned to the F&B WSQ framework developed by WDA.
Enhance training infrastructure (operations restructuring, association capability building, physical infrastructure improvement) : With a vision of establishing itself as a lead F&B industry association, RAS intends to strengthen the professional competence of its team as well as expand its training facilities.
Develop and launch media campaign and roll-out activities : RAS will work with stakeholders such as industry players and government agencies to launch a media campaign to better the image of the F&B industry.
Resource/Research Intelligence
Manpower survey and corporate HR policies : RAS plans to embark on a study to determine the manpower requirements and skills gaps of the sector at all worker levels. Findings will be shared with industry.
Customer segment study and shared customer intelligence : An in-depth study on consumer segment trends will be conducted to identify areas such as emerging consumer segments, trends and consumer behaviour, amongst others.
Information dissemination channel – development of portal : The portal aims to be a gateway to a host of services ranging from trade information, industry statistics and research, amongst others.
Capability Development
Leverage on IT and technology : RAS intends to develop diagnostic tools and reports to enhance the knowledge and encourage IT and technology adoption within the industry.
Develop organisational effectiveness and procurement efficiency : RAS will develop diagnostic tools and reports to enhance competitiveness and encourage more effective operational processes.
Branding and franchising : RAS will develop toolkits as well as brand and franchise workshops for the industry.
Facilitate export marketing and business matching : RAS will develop an effective range of support programs to assist F&B companies to export their services and/or products overseas, e.g. knowledge transfer and creating platforms for international relationships.
