1. CardioRev Pte Ltd


A Novel Peptide-Eluting Coronary Stent

A strategic partnership between the Mayo Clinic, Nile Therapeutics, and NTU, CardioRev will study the feasibility of a drug-coated metal stent that will release a proprietary peptide at controllable rates over a period of time. If successful, CardioRev will be a step closer to developing a multi-layered, fully degradable drug / peptide eluting stent that will address all the current issues (restenosis and thrombosis) associated with cardiac stent treatment.

2. Double helix Tracking Technologies Pte Ltd


DNA Verified(TM) Timber Origin

Double Helix Tracking Technologies aims to demonstrate the feasibility of an inexpensive and irrefutable DNA-based method to verify the origin of wood products, including the creation of a genetic database for a specific species of timber. This could potentially supersede existing document audit processes used by the timber industry which are vulnerable to fraud and hence, address the problem of illegal-logging.

3. HVS Engineering Pte Ltd


A Novel Real-Time Energy & Cost Saving Cleaning System for Industrial heat Exchangers

HVS Engineering will study biofouling problems in marine-based heat exchangers that could lead to the development of a real-time mechanical cleaning system that prevents macrofouling. This would reduce the dependence of macrofouling control on chemical methods which are comparably more costly, hazardous, and environmentally-unfriendly, and which also exhibit limited efficacy at times.

Mesh.im will develop a cross-site interactive platform for website owners who wish to easily integrate a real-time communications system for their online communities. One of the major issues facing printed electronics is the failure of current battery technologies to meet the requirements of applications ranging from smart tags, ambient lighting, to wearable electronics. Printed Power aims to demonstrate the technical feasibility of utilising printable nanoscale materials to resolve this issue by developing active RFID tags in combination with printed batteries.

Progeniq seeks to demonstrate the innovative combination of GPU and FPGA as co-processors to standard CPUs in order to process data efficiently and effectively with full scalability as the need increases. This will lead not only to systems with much higher, multiple-fold performance, but also systems with lower energy consumption suitable for the High Performance Computing (HPC) industry.

Development of Advanced Precision Driver System with Charge Switching Concept for Pico Positioning

A critical challenge preventing analog actuators from moving at sub nano-meter or pico-meter level involves the non-linearity of these actuators, with the driving system being the most crucial limiting factor. Qtech Nanosystems seeks to develop a new Precision Driver System, improving the existing mechanical stage, and the solid state actuator to achieve sub-nanometer and pico-meter resolution.

Development of High Stiffness Polymer Composite Arch-Shaped Wires with Rectangular Cross-Section

BioMers’ world-first translucent orthodontic wires is limited to wires of round cross-sections and low stiffness values suitable only for the initial phase of the orthodontic treatment. BioMers seeks to develop a manufacturing process for translucent wires with rectangular cross-sections and high stiffness values which can be applied to both intermediate and final phases of the orthodontic treatment – another world-first.

Bio-X: A Digital Camera Approach to Food Testing

Bio-X was set-up to commercialise and develop an improved chemical sensor technology capable of achieving direct sensing of contaminants. The company aims to focus on food testing and develop the world's first, direct-sensing, rapid sensor platform, without the need for any secondary modalities such as fluorescence.

Point-of-Care Diagnostics Instrument for Immunoassays, Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)

ELISA is an expensive but popular format of immunoassays for clinical diagnostics. Curiox aims to develop a self-contained, affordable, point-of-care (PoC) ELISA diagnostic instrument which is faster, requires a smaller sample compared to existing instruments, and is affordable enough for primary care facilities, extending the benefits to patients of clinics and small-to-medium-sized hospitals.
