Seven nanotech start-ups to showcase services in US
SEVEN nanotechnology companies based in Singapore will be showcasing their technologies and services at one of the world's largest nanotechnology expos. International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is leading the firms in making their debut appearance at the Nanotech Conference & Expo 2010, held in California this week.
Nanotechnology is an emerging field of study about building systems on an atomic and molecular scale.
According to IE Singapore, the global nanotechnology market comprising nanotools, nanomaterials and nanodevices is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 20 per cent from 2009 to US$30 billion in 2013. "Singapore has nurtured several outstanding start-ups which have used nanotechnology to create cutting-edge and innovative products," said IE Singapore's assistant CEO Yew Sung Pei.
By participating in the expo, "we hope to help these aspiring and ambitious start-ups reach out to new partners and expand their global reach".
Biomers will be one of the seven firms at the expo. It developed and produced the world's first translucent orthodontic systems using nanotechnology polymer composite products. The other six companies are Pasture Pharma, Bilcare Technologies, NanoGlobe, NanoMaterials Technology, ShayoNano and Wintech NanoTechnology Services.
