Business Excellence (BE) initiative

Revision of the Business Excellence Framework

Please be informed that with effect from 1st January 2011, all applications for awards and certifications (new and renewals) will be assessed based on the revised Business Excellence Framework.

The Business Excellence (BE) initiative helps organisations to strengthen their management systems and processes for high performance. It is based on an internationally comparable and holistic model for managing an enterprise for excellence. Singapore Quality Class and Singapore Quality Award are key milestones of overall performance on the business excellence model.

This framework also has niche standards that focus on management capabilities for people, innovation and service which are key enablers for business excellence. The People Developer and the People Excellence Award are key milestones of the niche standard for people, the Singapore Innovation Class and Innovation Excellence Award for innovation, and the Singapore Service Class and Service Excellence Award for service.

Singapore’s efforts in promoting business excellence have won it international recognition. The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) has designated SPRING as its Centre of Excellence (COE) for Business Excellence. This is the first time that the APO has named a member as a COE for having expert knowledge and experience in a specific area.
