Enhancing the Singapore Precision Engineering industry to meet the new global challenges

Vision

To develop Singapore into a global precision engineering centre offering cost effective manufacturing solutions for a diverse range of applications.

Key initiatives under the proposal

SPETA’s proposal focuses on four key areas to further strengthen the PE industry :

Market and Business Development

SPETA will organise business missions and networking seminars to help create new market and business opportunities between our PE companies and foreign companies.

Capabilities Development

SPETA will help develop capabilities for the PE industry in the following key areas :
  • train executives and managers in the management of PE companies and tool rooms.
  • develop new specialist training courses.
  • set up of a Virtual CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Training Laboratory to train CNC machinists.
  • develop new PE capabilities through joint industry projects or consortiums.
  • organise management and technical seminars to introduce the latest management and technological trends.
  • set up a design advisory and consultancy service to assist PE companies in tooling design.

Technology Development

SPETA is to study and implement
  • a platform for collaborative engineering to enhance competitiveness amongst toolrooms in different locations.
  • a toolroom management system to enhance the management of tooling facilities of our PE companies.

Growth Market Development (automotive)

SPETA will
  • facilitate more automotive projects through strategic alliances between our local PE companies and foreign companies.
  • help develop our local automotive capabilities in the design and production of automotive modules, through training courses and capability development projects.
