SWA LEAD Programme: Growing the Water Industry
Vision
To develop a vibrant and dynamic Singapore water industry, and make Singapore a regional hub for l water services and technologies
Key Initiatives under the Proposal
Industry branding and profiling
SWA will produce two versions of its collaterals/brochures, for the local and international markets. SWA will also be producing a new edition of its Members Directory, to help introduce the industry to potential buyers.
SWA will develop a multi-functional Internet portal, including contents such as job postings, an online forum, and local and regional tender opportunities and industry reports.
Enterprise development
SWA will assist enterprises through R&D tie-ups with local and foreign institutions. This will enhance the industry’s capabilities in R&D and boost international competitiveness.
SWA will also help incubate start-ups, and organise business angel sessions for incubatees to understand more about the financing and networking opportunities available.
To help small companies move up the value chain, SWA will be facilitating partnership among water SMEs with complementary services to bid for larger projects.
Manpower development
To address the manpower and training needs facing local water companies, SWA will carry out a training needs analysis, and develop training courses to fill immediate industry training gaps based on findings from the analysis.
SWA will also conduct training workshops to disseminate specialist skills to the industry, with agencies like the PUB and will work towards selected skills certification with WDA and other agencies.
Market development
SWA will partner IE to organize a Hosted Buyers Programme in conjunction with Singapore International Water Week (SIWW). The Programme, involving scheduled meetings between buyers and matched exhibitors, enables the local water industry to leverage on the success of SIWW to increase sales.
