03-Jul-2008 SPRING revises National Standard for Maintenance of Electrical Installations SPRING Singapore launched a revised national standard, SS 538: 2008 Singapore Standard Code of Practice for Maintenance of Electrical Equipment of Electrical Installations, on 3 July 2008. This standard, which provides guidelines on the proper maintenance of electrical equipment in electrical installations, is applicable to most buildings and to many different types of industries.
01-Jul-2008 SPRING invests $12 million in two Environmental Technology projects Singapore's Environmental Technology SMEs received a double boost on 1 July 2008 - with the launch of the 1) Environmental and Water Technology Centre of Innovation (EWT COI) with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and 2) Environmental Technology Capability Development Programme (EnviroTech CDP). Both initiatives - worth $12 million - will strengthen local SMEs' capabilities to develop breakthrough technologies in environmental solutions and energy sustainability over the next five years.
05-May-2008 SPRING Chairman wins top May Day award Our Chairman, Mr Philip Yeo, recently received a top May Day award from the labour movement. The Distinguished Service (Star) Award from the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) recognized his "significant contributions" in transforming Singapore's economic landscape and creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs in over 30 years.
30-Apr-2008 SPRING CE leaves to join MTI Our Chief Executive, Mr Loh Khum Yean, left SPRING Singapore on 1 May to join the Ministry of Trade and Industry as Deputy Secretary. Under his leadership in the last four and half years, Mr Loh transformed SPRING into the key enterprise development agency. He also spearheaded Singapore's active participation in international standards development efforts. Deputy CE Mr Png Cheong Boon is now Acting Chief Executive.
28-Apr-2008 $6 million SPRING programme to build capabilities in Semiconductor sector Chairman Philip Yeo recently launched our Semiconductor Capability Development Programme (CDP) with a $6 million fund for three years. This CDP is to train precision engineering SMEs to meet the outsourcing requirements of Singapore's semiconductor industry. This is our fifth CDP after similar ones for Food, Logistics, Marine and Medtech.
