Organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance on the various standards are recognised through the business excellence awards. The business excellence (BE) awards comprise of the Singapore Quality Award (SQA), Singapore Quality Award with Special Commendation (SQA SC), Innovation Excellence Award (I-Award) and the People Excellence Award (PE Award). The BE awards are benchmarked against international quality awards such as the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, European Quality Award and Australian Business Excellence Award.
The BE awards are managed by the SQA Governing Council, which draws up policies and guidelines for the awards programme and approves the awards recipients. The chairman of the Governing Council is Professor Cham Tao Soon, Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, SIM University and President Emeritus, Nanyang Technological University. Members of the Governing Council are drawn from BE awards winners.

The Governing Council is supported by a Management Committee, comprising experienced assessors and business excellence practitioners from BE awards winners. The Management Committee reviews the awards criteria, develops the system for training the assessors and shortlists awards applicants.
