Food labeling requirements vary from country to country, however unless specifically exempted, a food label should contain the following core information :
- Prescribed Food Name
- List of Ingredients (ingredients should be listed in descending order at time of manufacturer. When an ingredient is the product of two or more ingredients, the compound ingredient may be declared and should be immediately accompanied by a list, in brackets of its ingredient in descending order of proportion).
- Mandatory warning, advisory statements or allergens declarations (as specified by the regulations of the importing country).
- Net weight or volume (where applicable)
- Date mark (“Used By”, "Best Before”)
- Nutrition Information Panel
- Instructions for use or storage (for public health and safety)
- Country of origin
- The name and address of the business and manufacturer and importer
