The objective of the Standards Committees (SCs) is to develop, maintain, promote and facilitate the implementation of Singapore Standards to support industry growth and national initiatives in safety & health promotion, environmental protection and active aging. The SCs also review and promote Singapore’s participation in the development of international standards that are key to Singapore’s strategic interest. There are currently 11 SCs under the purview of the Singapore Standards Council.

Biomedical Standards Committee (BMSC)

The objective of BMSC is to support the biomedical and health clusters in Singapore. The scope of BMSC covers :

1. Clinical laboratory testing and in-vitro diagnostic test systems
2. Medical equipment, devices and components
3. Thermal imaging
4. Traditional Chinese medicine

Chemical Standards Committee (CSC)

The CSC supports both the local chemical cluster and chemical-related supporting industries with the aim of helping Singapore develop into a world-class chemical hub. Standards developed by CSC cover test methods, performance assessment techniques, best practices in the manufacturing and handling, use & disposal throughout the life cycle of chemicals to safeguard public interest, workers’ safety and the environment. Electrical and Electronic Standards Committee (EESC)

The EESC supports the electrical and electronics industry and the market access of electrical and electronics equipment through the harmonisation of standards for electrical and electronics equipment. Standards developed by EESC include the standardisation of equipment, systems and installations for the distribution and use of electricity and electrotechnical products. The scope of EESC covers :

2. Electrical appliances and electronic equipment including smart and infocomm devices
