Standards Development Process

Draft Development & Approval

To avoid delays, ensure that you:

  • Structure and draft the standard using templates provided by SPRING Singapore
  • Obtain the copyright of any materials included in the standard*
  • Use international standards directly, wherever possible
  • Adopt or adapt international standards or overseas national standards where suitable for local use and justify any deviations from the international standards or overseas national standards
  • In the absence of any relevant international standards or overseas national standards, base the standard on industry practices, collection of necessary information and/or results of research and investigations

The draft standard will be approved by the relevant Technical Committee or Standards Committee prior to public comment. It will be approved or endorsed by the Standards Committee either during or after public comment.
