Clean Technology

Clean Technology

Since the clean technology (cleantech) sector was identified as a strategic growth area in 2007, more than $700 million has been committed by the government to fund research & development (R&D), manpower development and groom Singapore-based enterprises to support the vibrant and growing industry sector.

Today, the sector is well-positioned as a living lab to test-bed innovative and sustainable solutions in an urban setting. Together with global players like Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), Siemens, General Electric and Veolia, SMEs in the sector play a vital and unique role, channelling new innovations and pushing the boundaries of technology and solutions. By 2015, the sector is expected to contribute $3.4 billion to Singapore’s GDP and employ some 18,000 people.
